John Hunt Park Long Term Plans

What is proposed: The City of Huntsville is proposing long term plans for a new park, Amphitheater, Community Center, Soccer Fields and or Tennis Courts.

How it may affect you: The current plans from the City completely remove the pavement that we currently use to host autocross events. The current city plans also make no provisions for a new lot for Solo use. The current proposal effectively eliminates John Hunt Park as a suitable location for autocross events. We currently do not have an alternate event site. If we loose JHP then we may be forced to seek alternate sites – during that process we may not be able to schedule any events. TAC / TVR have been actively using this location since the early 1970s.

What you can do to help: Make plans to attend the Planning Commission Meeting Sunday, November 18th, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Showers Center, located at 4600 Blue Spring Road. Please note the date and time change. This is the FINAL public meeting! Wear something TAC/TVR related.

Log in and support our cause to either keep JHP as it is, modifying the plans to allow for a multi-use pad or finding a suitable alternate site (please keep comments civil and productive): Link

  Proposed bylaws change for TAC

At the last TAC meeting we discussed lowering the membership dues for 2011 to $20 single, $25 family. As required in the bylaws I am posting the proposed edit to the current bylaws.

“Move to Change the Dues in the bylaws Article 5, Section 2 to decrease the TAC membership dues to $20 for a single and $25 for a Family Membership.”

We will take a vote on this at the next TAC meeting. I will also be sending this out in email soon.

Thanks,

Tim
